Third baseman Dan DiBartolomeo and pitcher Chris Enourato were
both named to the first team, while outfielder Justin Parks and pitcher
Jarryd Summers earned second team honors.
DiBartolomeo enjoyed a breakthrough sophomore season for WVU,
batting .439 with eight home runs, 59 RBIs, 18 doubles and 90 hits. His
.439 mark set the school single-season record (minimum of 100 at-bats)
formally held by Bob Bernardo in 1984. The Margate, N.J., native also
recorded a .489 on-base percentage as well as a .644 slugging
percentage.
Enourato highlighted his junior campaign as the school’s
all-time saves leader, notching six saves in 2009 to give him 17 for his
career. The Bridgeport, W.Va., native went 6-2 with a 3.66 ERA in 46.2
innings pitched, and was named to the National Collegiate Baseball
Writers Association Stopper of the Year Award watch list. Enourato also
struck out 58 and held opposing batters to a .268 average.
Second team honoree Justin Parks had his best season as a
redshirt senior, going .374 with 12 home runs, 41 RBIs, 14 doubles, 86
hits and 76 runs scored. He became the 14th Mountaineer to amass 200
career base hits, and capped his WVU career as an all-Big East first
team selection.
Right-hander Jarryd Summers emerged as one of the best pitchers
in the Big East, earning all-conference first team honors. The
Sharpsville, Pa., native went 7-3 with a 3.06 ERA in 94 innings pitched.
His 99 strikeouts are the most by a WVU pitcher since Zac Cline recorded
101 in 2003. Summers finished atop the conference in several pitching
categories, leading the Big East in ERA and doubles allowed (8) while
finishing in the top five in opposing batting average (.239),
strikeouts, wins, games started (14), runs allowed (41) and innings
pitched.
