Marquette played its entire roster in a 106-47 exhibition win over MSOE.

Marquette manhandled the Milwaukee School of Engineering, 106-47, in an exhibition game Saturday afternoon at the Bradley Center.

Five Golden Eagles scored in double figures, led by Lazar Hayward with 24 points in 17 minutes.

Marquette’s height and athleticism overwhelmed MOSE from the opening tip.

After a Jeremy Off layup on its first possession, MSOE went scoreless until the 13:39 mark in the first half. The nearly six-minute drought propelled the Golden Eagles to a 21-0 run, with 17 of those points coming off nine MSOE turnovers. Marquette also opened the second half on an 11-0 run that spanned close to four minutes.

Marquette led 53-25 at half, and grew its lead to 59 points by the final buzzer.

Sophomore center Chris Otule showed marked improvement from last season, scoring 14 points and grabbing five rebounds.

“Everyday when he comes to the gym, he wants to get better,” Buzz Williams said. “I think he has a bright future.”

Marquette’s newcomers also impressed, especially junior guard Dwight Buycks, who scored 15 points off 5-of-7 shooting, and Jeronne Maymon, who added seven points and seven rebounds while being extremely aggressive with the ball in the paint.

Marquette out-rebounded the Raiders 48-20. However, it should be noted that MSOE has no players taller than 6-5. And with the bigger and more physical Big East schedule looming, the Golden Eagles still have a lot of question-marks.

“Similar to last year, we’re still devoid in the paint, defensively and offensively,” Williams said. “We’ve got to be able to keep the ball out of the paint.”

Marquette enters regular season play Friday night against Centenary College at 7:30 PM CST.
