Warner Takes One Day at a Time Approach

The Arizona Cardinals will have to keep their cards close to their chest this week concerning the status of Kurt Warner. He will undergo more tests this week to determine whether or not he can play against the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings are holding a very hot hand. Will Leinart be up for the task?

The Cardinals could go through the week without knowing for sure which quarterback will start Sunday night against the Vikings.

Starter Kurt Warner missed last week's game with concussion symptoms and was still feeling them on Monday.

He was scheduled to see an eye doctor in hopes of determining if his problems, including a sensitivity to light, were remnants of the concussion he suffered in St. Louis on Nov. 22. Warner expected to play last week and took the regular number of snaps during practice. He decided on Sunday morning, however, that it was wise not to play. So Matt Leinart started, even though he had not received that much work in practice.

That could change this week. With Warner's status still uncertain, Leinart should receive more snaps with the starters this week.

That should help him as the Cardinals prepare for the 10-1 Vikings. Leinart played decently last week, despite a lack of work, completing 21 of 31 for 220 yards.

He was not intercepted and didn't have a touchdown pass.

PLAYER/PERSONNEL NOTES

--QB Kurt Warner likely will be a question mark for Sunday's game until at least later in the week. He suffered a head injury against St. Louis. He has been cleared by neurological tests but is still suffering from concussion symptoms.

--QB Matt Leinart could receive his second consecutive start this Sunday against the Vikings. Leinart played better last week in Tennessee as the game progressed. He completed 13 of 16 passes in the second half.

--RB Tim Hightower continues to be productive when given the chance. He had only 11 carries last week but gained 55 yards. Hightower is also an effective receiver.

--RB Beanie Wells fumbled for the second consecutive game, so he needs to work on his ball security. Wells has been effective as a runner, however.

--RB Jason Wright won't play more than a handful of snaps in any game. He'll participate in some obvious passing situations but that's about it.

--WR Larry Fitzgerald caught only four passes last week and was frustrated by not getting the ball.

--WR Anquan Boldin has played well in the last month since recovering from an ankle injury. Boldin wasn't a big part of the game last week against Tennessee.

--WR Steve Breaston has not been a focal point of the offense lately as the Cardinals have moved to more two tight-end sets.

--WR Early Doucet has passed Jerheme Urban for the No. 4 job. Doucet won't get the ball much, however.

--TE Ben Patrick continues to be the team's most effective tight end. Patrick is a decent blocker and an above-average tight end.

--TE Anthony Becht is the Cardinals' best blocking tight end, but he's not a big part of the passing game.

--K Neil Rackers has been reliable this season, missing only one field goal.

--SS Adrian Wilson needs one sack to become the 10th player in NFL history to have 20 sacks and 20 interceptions over his career. Wilson has 21 interceptions.

--ILB Karlos Dansby aggravated a shoulder injury last week and missed most of the fourth quarter. He is expected to play Sunday.

--LT Mike Gandy aggravated a pelvic injury and likely will be questionable for Sunday's game. Jeremy Bridges, the backup, played effectively in the fourth quarter last week.
