West Virginia senior linebacker Reed Williams capped his regular season with a stellar performance against Rutgers to earn Big East Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Williams, a native of Moorefield, W. Va., had nine tackles, two sacks, 2.5 tackles for loss and a pass breakup as West Virginia closed the regular season with a 24-21 win at Rutgers, lifting the Mountaineers to their eighth consecutive finish in second place or better in the Big East standings.

Williams, a two-time ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America selection, led a West Virginia defense that held Rutgers to 218 yards of offense and limited an opponent to fewer than 100 rushing yards for the fifth time this season.

Williams finished the regular season with 57 tackles and ten pass breakups.
