On A Roll

Bruce Irvin

West Virginia added a third commitment to its football class in the past three days when Bruce Irvin switched his pledge from Tennessee to the Mountaineers.

Irvin, a speedy passrushing defensive end/linebacker prospect, liked West Virginia when he visited the program this fall, but wound up pledging to Tennessee soon after. Even so, he kept thinking about West Virginia, and after continued conversations with the coaching staff there, decided that WVU was a better fit for him.

The junior college terror racked up 72 tackles, including 18 sacks during the pas year at Mt. San Antonios. He had 21 tackles for losses and 10 quarterback hurries. He also rumbled 96 yards with a fumble recovery for a score. The 6-4, 230-pounder claims a "legitimate 4.4" time in the 40-yard dash.

"There aren't many players at my size that can run like I can," Irvin told BlueGoldNews.com. "West Virginia said they can use me several different ways on defense."

BlueGoldNews.com will have more with Irvin shortly.
