With a large crop of recruits in the Class of 2010, WVU safeties coach Steve Dunlap has a lot to look forward to this fall.

In Mike Dorsey, Travis Bell and Qudral Forte, WVU signed a trio of solid players who should bolster Dunlap's depth. Like every coach, however, he cautions that freshmen have a lot to learn before they are ready to contribute.

Steve Dunlap agrees with head coach Bill Stewart's recruiting philosophy of targeting tall, rangy players, as they have certain physical advantages that show up quickly at the safety spots. In addition to pass defense, those attributes help a great deal in playing off blocks and staying free to get to the ball.

In this exclusive interview, Dunlap addresses those issues, and also weighs in on the merits of an early signing period for football.
