Men's Tennis Team Faces Crucial Weekend

The West Virginia men's tennis team hosts a crucial homestand this weekend in their fight for a berth in the Big East Conference Tournament.

WVU (6-9, 1-1) faces Georgetown on Saturday and UConn on Sunday at the WVU Tennis Courts, adjacent to the WVU Coliseum. Both matches begin at 10:00 a.m.

The Mountaineers are led by freshman Eric Kochanski, who is 8-3 in singles matches this year. He also has an 8-4 doubles record with fellow freshman J.R. Randall.

WVU has won four of its last six matches after starting the season with a 2-7 slump.

"We have to play as hard as we've practice this past week," said head coach Ed Dickson. "If we are relaxed and we play with confidence, I expect some great results. We really just need to take care of some business this weekend."

Six teams are selected for the Big East tournament by a selction committee on Monday, April 15th. Miami, Notre Dame and Virginia Tech will almost surely be selected, based on their records and ranking to date.
