Three First Week Honorees

West Virginia put three players on the Big East's weekly list of award winners for games played over the Labor Day weekend.
West Virginia linebacker Mortty Ivy and kicker Pat McAfee nabbed the league's defensive and special teams players of the week honors, while White made the Big East honor roll on the strength of his five touchdown passes.
Ivy a senior linebacker from Monroeville, Pa., had a hand in two of West Virginia's three takeaways in the
Mountaineers' 48-21 win against Villanova. He scored a touchdown on a
29-yard interception return and added a 30-yard fumble return. Ivy also
had five tackles and a sack.

Pat McAfee

McAfee, a senior from Plum, Pa., scored 12 points in the win, moving into a tie for fifth among kickers on the Big East's career
scoring chart (309). He kicked two field goals, including a career-best
52-yarder, added six PATs and averaged 42.5 yards on two punts.
White completed 25 of 33 passes for 208 yards
and a career-high five touchdowns and had a game-high 63 rushing yards
on nine carries in WVU's season opening win to secure a spot on the honor roll. With his first touchdown pass, a 24-yard strike to junior Alric Arnett, he moved into first place
on West Virginia's career total offense list with 7,984 yards.
