Never Too Early For Basketball

Although the West Virginia's football team is yet to take a snap for the 2014 season, WVU's basketball team is is already prepping themselves by having a little fun on the diamond.

Most people peg Bob Huggins as a guy that enjoys a lot of fun, and that held true on Saturday, as Huggins and the Mountaineer basketball team hosted its inaugural charity softball game to help raise money for the Conquer Chiari Research Foundation.

It was the coaching staff versus the current players, and the game did not disappoint. With humorous commentary from Mountaineer Sports Network's Jay Jacobs as the PA Announcer, and Juwan Staten playing catcher with no prior softball experience, the game was a success despite less than stellar fundamental play in an 8-3 staff victory over the players.

Here, Huggins details the game and discusses the upcoming season.

Camaraderie was the word of the day from Huggins, and senior guard Gary Browne also spoke to the media after the game on the teams cohesion. Browne discussed what he has seen this offseason from his teammates in the gym, and why he thinks this squad has a chance to succeed.
