His first stop was West Virginia on Saturday.
”I liked it,” said the 5-foot-9, 165-pound Robinson. “I liked the facilities there and I liked the coaching staff. The coaches were really laid back and I felt really comfortable at the practice.
”I also got a chance to watch them scrimmage on the game field. I liked the atmosphere and the environment, and the fans. You can tell the players love being there.
”I really enjoyed being able to see everything and having a chance to talk to coach (Dana) Holgorsen. He showed me a lot love and told me I could make an impact on the program.”
Next, Robinson went to Penn State on Sunday.
”I loved the Penn State visit,” he said. “When I got there, the whole staff came down to greet me at the door. That was great. I talked to almost the entire staff, including the trainers. I was able to watch the defensive backs practice and I like the way (defensive backs) coach (Terry) Smith does things.
”The facilities were first class, some of the nicest I’ve seen. The campus was nice, too. I was also impressed with their high graduation rate.
”Coach (James) Franklin told me I could make an impact there. He told me that if I came in and worked hard, I could play as a true freshman. He told me he expected me to play as a true freshman.”
While he’s not ready to name any favorites, Robinson said the visits helped both schools.
Along with the aforementioned schools, Robinson holds 13 offers from schools such as Clemson, Duke, Georgia Tech, Michigan State, Virginia and Wisconsin among others. Robinson said Northwestern could be next to offer.
What’s next for him?
”I’ll be at the UVa-UCLA game on Saturday,” Robinson said. “I’ve been going up to UVa for the last three years, so I’m really comfortable up there. I’m looking for UVa to play fast, hard-nosed defense. I’m also excited to see (true freshman) Quin (Blanding), who’s starting at safety.”
Besides his trip to Charlottesville Saturday, Robinson said he plans to attend games at Duke, Georgia Tech, Penn State, West Virginia and Wisconsin this fall, but hasn’t set any dates for those trips yet.
