Jennings down to five

Gary Jennings is getting closer to making his college decision. The 2015 Stafford (Va.) Colonial Forge wide receiver gave Scout.com the latest.

”I’m pretty much focused on five schools – UVa, Boston College, Wisconsin, West Virginia and Vanderbilt,” said Gary Jennings. “They've just stay in contact with me and give me information along the way.”

He gave a quick thought on each school.

Boston College: “I’ve talked to coach (Steve) Addazio personally and he talked about his vision for Boston College," said the 6-foot-2, 190-pound Jennings. "I would also fit in very well with the program.”

Vanderbilt: “They play in a strong conference – the SEC. They have a new coaching staff and two of the coaches – the offensive coordinator (Karl Dorrell) and the wide receivers coach (Mark Lubick) – coached in the NFL for the Houston Texans. So they know what it takes to get to the next level”

Virginia: “They’ve had some pretty good recruiting classes over the past couple of years, and I know they’ve struggled recently, but I feel like they're headed in the right direction.

West Virginia: “They pass the ball a lot and wide receiver is one of their primary positions, so that’s a good thing. They play big-time football, too.”

Wisconsin: “I’ve talked to (wide receivers) coach (Chris) Beatty and he said I could have impact on the return game and as a receiver.”

In regards to official visits, Jennings hasn’t scheduled any yet. However, he said Vanderbilt, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Virginia will definitely get officials.

When will he make his decision?

”I’d like to make it sooner than later,” he said. “I don’t want to wait so late that doors start closing, but not too early because I want to be sure when I commit. I’d probably say I’ll commit sometime during the middle of football season.”
